Fimmel was raised as the youngest of three brothers by parents Chris and Jennie on their 5500-acre dairy farm in Lockington near the small country town of Echuca, between Melbourne and Sydney. His modelling career first began when he was spotted working out at a gym in the Melbourne suburb of Hawthorn by the flatmate of Matthew Anderson, a talent scout for the prestigious Chadwick Models agency.
